Federal regulators are expanding their investigation into the owners of Truth Social, former President Donald Trump's attempt at a Twitter alternative.
Digital World Acquisition Corporation, the "blank check" company that helped fund Trump Media and Technology Group, said in a Tuesday filing it received a "document request and subpoena" from the Securities and Exchange Commission seeking additional materials regarding “communications regarding and due diligence of potential targets other than TMTG."
The conclusions of the investigation, announced in December 2021, could lead to unspecified penalties.
