Twitter says it was a mistake to block links to news outlet The Federalist

Earlier this week, Twitter was flagging links to articles by the news and commentary outlet The Federalist as “violent or misleading content that could lead to real-world harm.” The social media giant later claimed the flagging was a mistake.

The Federalist’s CEO announced the censorship via Twitter on Wednesday. He said some of the stories that were flagged covered Hunter Biden, Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis, Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson, and even a specialized style of pottery called majolica art.

The tweet contained a screenshot of the warning from Twitter. The links were being flagged because they could contain “violent or misleading content that could lead to real-world harm,” “malicious links that could steal personal information or harm electronic devices,” or “spammy links that mislead people or disrupt their experience.”
